Move Out Checklist: What To Do At The End Of Tenancy

If your tenancy with Luxome is coming to an end and you're getting ready to move out, you might be wondering what steps to take next. This simple guide will help you get your rented property in order before you pack up and head off to your next place.

Cleaning Checklist

    • Remove all tenant belongings (including furniture, small items, cleaning products and rubbish)

    • Wipe down all skirting boards with damp cloth 

    • Wipe clean any non-permanent marks on walls 

    • Dust / wipe clean as necessary fire equipment (fire extinguishers, alarm points) 

    • Dust light fittings ✓ Dust / clean ceilings and walls as necessary 

    • Replace light bulbs 

    • Wipe clean light switches 

    • Wipe clean door handles (inside and outside the front door) 

    • Wipe all handrails 

    • Wipe / dust all window sills 

    • Clean internal panes of window / door glass 

    •  Wipe clean all doors 

    •  Wipe clean all window frames  

    • Wash laminate / tiled floors ensuring no pools of moisture left on floor  

    • Dust / wipe all skirting boards 

    • Vacuum all carpets including under furniture that can be moved 

    • Lounge Vacuum all sofas and chairs (ensuring that cushions are cleaned underneath) 

    • Wipe all leather, faux leather sofas and chairs (ensure that removable cushions are taken off and vacuumed underneath) as necessary

    • Wipe clean all tables, bookshelves, wardrobes, chest of drawers (including inside the drawers)

    • Wipe clean all kitchen surfaces, outside and inside kitchen cabinets as necessary 

    • Clean inside fridge and freezers using appropriate cleaning products 

    •  Where necessary defrost freezer ensuring container / newspaper used to absorb defrosted water  

    • Clean under the fridge and freezer(s) June 2018 

    • Clean inside oven using appropriate oven cleaning fluids 

    •  Clean hob and extractor fan (including top of extractor fan) 

    • Clean inside and outside microwave (if supplied)

      Bathroom 

    • Clean bath, sink, toilet (internal and external)  

    • Clean shower enclosures 

    •  Clean bath and sink sealant 

    •  Clean / scrub tile grouting using appropriate materials

    • Clean bath, sink, toilet (internal and external)  

    • Clean shower enclosures 

    •  Clean bath and sink sealant 

    •  Clean / scrub tile grouting using appropriate materials

Deposit Procedure

After you’ve checked out of the property, Suzie Hatton will get in touch to discuss any discrepancies noted in the checkout inventory, if there are any. Once both parties have agreed on any applicable charges, you’ll be able to apply for your deposit return through Luxome via the TDS Scheme.

The TDS typically processes deposit repayments within 10 working days after receiving the correctly completed acceptance documentation.
